HeartLegacy’s mission is to help family members connect, capture and pass on family content for current and future generations. This requires the capture and storage of non-personal information, provided only to us by you, the user. We are dedicated to providing the best possible security mechanisms to protect you and the data you provide us.
By using the HeartLegacy website, you consent to the collection and storage of the information you provide HeartLegacy.com in accordance with this Privacy Statement.
Collection of Personal Information
We only collect information that is essential for basic operation of the service. By posting content using the service you grant us the right and license to use for promotion, modify, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such content on and through the service, but only for the betterment of the Service. Some example of information you may provide: Name, email, & date of birth: To gain access to the site a user must register for the service providing the minimum information of: name, email, and date of birth.
Background, Family, and Interests
It is up to the sole discretion of the user as to how much information they would like to share regarding gender, background and other interests. You have control over your profile information and how it is shared among your family. No person outside of your family network will have access to the information you provide here. You may also post information about others in your family including photos and background information. Obtaining consent from the living person about who’s information you intend to post is entirely your responsibility.
Payment Details
If you decide to purchase a gift set of a family recording, providing payment details to HeartLegacy is necessary. This includes postal address and payment details, such as a credit or debit card number.
Comments and Bulletins
Comments and bulletin posts you make on the website will be captured by us. Any communications, chats, or discussions with HeartLegacy will also be captured. Information you provide in these areas may be read and use by others who access them.
Minors
HeartLegacy is meant for people of all ages, but it is strongly encouraged that children under the age of 18 obtain permission of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly seek or collect information from children under the age of 13.
How HeartLegacy Uses Your Information
By allowing HeartLegacy to collect your personal information you are consenting to the collection, storage, transfer and processing of that information. You grant HeartLegacy the right and license to use for promotion, modify, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such content on and through the service, but only for the betterment of the Service.
HeartLegacy may communicate with you for the purpose of updating you on changes to your family tree and/or changes in your membership and related products/services. If you do not wish to keep receiving promotional emails you may click the unsubscribe link in listed in the email of manager your privacy settings from within your account. HeartLegacy may show applicable advertisements to you based upon the demographic data you have provided.
We do not provide your personal or individual account information to third part advertisers. We do not sell or distribute your personal information to these advertisers without your consent to do so. We may wish to showcase your activity or video to the website’s community. If we would like to highlight one of your contributions, we will attribute it to you and ask for your permission first.

We may disclose certain information to third parties to perform certain tasks including the storage, consolidation, analysis, or management of information to communicate with site users. An outside party may be used to assist in processing payments but it is important to note that they are only given access to the information needed to complete their function. We are regularly reviewing our security measures to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest technology. GDPR Statement
Location of Data: HeartLegacy is based in the United States. We provide services globally using computer systems, servers, and databases located in the U.S. When you use our services from outside of the U.S., your information will therefore be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the U.S. Data is collected, stored, used, and shared as set forth in our privacy policies. We could not provide our services or comply with our obligations to you without transferring your personal information to the U.S. We’ll store only the profile information you choose to add and content you upload or submit on the website/app within the HeartLegacy database. Any information on your profile, content (photo/video) provided in your posts or comments, becomes available to those users within your network and could be collected and used by those users.
We do not use any of your contact information to send commercial or marketing materials without your consent. We may send emails for administration purposes to inform you of major changes on-site or within the app, or inform you of new activity within your HeartLegacy network. We may collect information about what pages you visit and actions you take on the platform to provide analytics and further improve the end-user experience. We retain the personal information collected from you as long as it’s relevant to our business purposes or until you request that we remove the data by contacting us at support@heartlegacy.com.
